Lowland Single Malt Scotch

Auchentoshan Single Malt (10 Year)

Auchentoshan Single MaltAuchentoshan. (Pronounced "Och’n’tosh’n".)
Once you get past the spelling and pronouncing of the name, Auchentoshan has a very pleasant nose with a taste that is not quite as dark as it's brownish amber might indicate. Auchentoshan is very light on the smoke and peat which lends itself well to beginning scotch drinkers who will appreciate the flowery, light fruitiness just as much as the experts. I detected a little bubble-gum and fruit-punch and a finish that stayed light throughout. No hint of salt, and there was no bite in the back of the tongue that you might expect from a 'thinner' tasting single-malt scotch. This one gets high marks for having such great drinkability for a variety of tastes.

Glenkinchie Single Malt (10 Year)
Glenkinchie Single Malt RatingGlenkinchie is a superb lowlands single malt scotch that I've enjoyed many times. I appreciate Glenkinchie for it's light, smoky taste with very fruity, dry after-finish. It has a very slight hint of wood and peppery-smoky along with the dry finish.
It is a medium-bodied single malt scotch,  yet firm and light. I recommend this single malt whether you are a first-time scotch drinker or an experienced one.
