Campbeltown Single Malt Ratings
Glen Scotia and Springback are the only distilleries in Campbeltown.
Glen Scotia Single Malt Rating
Glen Scotia is one of only two scotches made in Campbeltown, Scotland. This unique, 14-year old, single malt whiskey has a bit of a surprise waiting for. you. After you get past a very peppery, dry, wood-pine nose, the scotch very quickly turns round and smooth, with just a hint of cherry. Then, just when you think you've had the last of its taste, it rounds out to a very long, smooth blackberry, fruit-punch tasting finish. This is a single malt scotch that is very easy to get used to and drink every day. My small complaint, if I had to mention one, might be that it lacks a real profound distinctiveness to its taste. It's made up for in the fact that it is very smooth and has an incredibly long-tasting finish. Single Malt Rating: 89
Springbank Single Malt Rating
Springbank is the other single malt scotch from Campbeltown Scotland. This has a fruitier nose than the Glen Scotia and hint of sherry. It also has a very lasting finish, with a very nice syrupy-caramel taste as it develops. I say that it has a bit of a butterscotch and spice-cake taste, with a very nice, long finish that drives your glass right back to your lips for the next sensual experience. Single Malt Rating: 90
